Committees
BEAUTIFICATION
Village Gardens
Members plant and maintain the Quechee Village gardens for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. We also meet in December to decorate the Village for the holidays. Click here to see the gardens.
Memorial Garden
The Memorial Garden is an ongoing project of the Club on the Village Green that honors past members. Also, trees are planted in memory of past members.
Wildlife Garden
The Wildlife Garden is an area of native plants and designated as a “Certified Wildlife Habitat” by the National Wildlife Federation. It is located adjacent to the Quechee Village Green. The QGC maintains the path through the garden along with a guide to native plants and wildlife.
The Quechee Garden Club committees, and civic projects are described below. There are many opportunities for members to share their time and talents. The committees focus on the club’s mission, and all members are encouraged to actively participate.
If you’re interested in volunteering on a project or committee, contact the chair or send an email to quecheegardenclub@gmail.com.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
School and Libraries
QGC helps support garden programs at local K-12 schools and the Quechee Library to instill the love of gardening and foster the next generation of gardeners and land stewards.
Scholarship
Each year the garden club awards the Anne Bradley Emerson Scholarship to a local student who is pursuing studies in horticulture, forestry, or the environmental/biological sciences. Click here to find out more on the scholarship.
Vermont Green-Up Day
QGC members actively participate in the annual Vermont Green-Up Day. In 2024, over 23,500 volunteers statewide picked up 348+ tons of trash. Of the 142 Quechee Village volunteers, over 60% were garden club members. Thank you to all who participate in this important initiative.
Community Garden
In 2011, the Quechee Community Garden was created on the Village Green with the support of the Garden Club, the Town of Hartford, the White River Rotary Club and Quechee Lakes Landowners Association (QLLA). Today, the gazebo and gardens are used year round by residents and visitors alike.
FUNDRAISING
Plant Sale
This fundraiser is held in May and features perennial plants from members’ gardens and annuals and herbs from local greenhouses. The funds raised are used for the beautification of our village and other garden club projects.
Wreath Sale
The sale of evergreen wreaths each year, helps offset the costs of the holiday decorations around the village.
